Put the gargoyles on the leaf-etched tiles
Place the four gargoyles on tiles 3, 5, 11, and 14 in the full-game Gravewood Crypt puzzle. Number the 4-by-4 grid from the top-left, moving left to right across each row until the bottom-right; the destinations are the leaf-etched floor stones.
Plan each push around the destination tiles
- Save before experimenting with the statues. This gives you a suitable arrangement to return to if your pushes leave the party unable to get behind a gargoyle.
- Identify the leaf-etched destination stones before moving a gargoyle. Use the grid numbering to distinguish tiles 3, 5, 11, and 14 from the surrounding floor.
- Choose a destination and work backward through the pushes you intend to make. Include the square where the party must stand behind the statue, so your plan accounts for access as well as the statue's path.
- Check the approach square before each push. Keeping that space reachable prevents a nearby gargoyle from cutting off the position you need for the following move.
- Move a gargoyle toward its chosen leaf-etched tile while preserving access around the remaining statues. Avoid gathering the statues in the center, where they can block each other.
- Reassess the remaining approach paths after placing a statue. Before committing to another push, make sure your next gargoyle still has room for the party to get behind it.
Why the center can trap your arrangement
Pushing all four gargoyles into the central area can leave them mutually blocked. Even when a destination remains open, another statue may prevent the party from reaching the square behind the gargoyle you want to push.
Judge a proposed move by the working space it leaves afterward. Trace where you would stand for the following push before moving the statue, and reconsider any move that closes that approach.
If you can no longer reach the required pushing positions, use the available reset or save fallback instead of continuing to crowd the center. Gravewood Crypt is optional, so a blocked arrangement does not prevent main-story progress.
Restart a blocked statue arrangement
The November 7 patch, version 1.0.4, added a reset button for the Gravewood Crypt statues. It lets you restart the arrangement when your pushes have left the puzzle blocked.
- Use the statue reset button if it is available in your full-game build. Restarting the arrangement gives you another attempt with room to plan the approach squares.
- Load a suitable earlier save if you are playing an earlier full-game build without the reset button. Choose a save from before the pushes that blocked your access.
- Leave the crypt for later if your earlier build has no button and you have no suitable save. This optional dungeon can wait while you continue elsewhere.
These instructions apply to the full-game puzzle. The separate demo's corridor-reset behavior should not be used as the reset method for an earlier full-game build.
